Dentist Plano What Your Toothbrush Says about You

McKinney Dentist Breaks Down the Best Brush

Since there are multiple types of toothbrushes and toothpastes, including different sizes, colors, bristles, flavors, brands—the list goes on! But when it comes down to picking one, the decision can be tough. Your McKinney Dentist, Dr. Kasiri, is here to discuss what brush you may choose, and what brush you should choose.

Brushes with Hard Bristles
When you’re using a toothbrush with tough bristles, you may think that you’re cleaning even better because the bristles are doing more work. Unfortunately, that’s not the case. Hard bristles can do damage to your teeth and gums since they’re fairly more aggressive. If you brush hard with tough bristles, you could be hurting your mouth and perhaps cause bleeding.

Brushes with Large Heads
The bigger, the better, right?! If the head of your toothbrush is too big, then you may not be able to reach all of the spots in your mouth. Having a brush with a smaller head (and softer bristles) will be the best choice. You’ll be gentle with your teeth and be able to cover more space.

Electric Toothbrushes
If all else fails, getting an electric toothbrush can actually benefit you. If you believe your brushing technique isn’t working with a manual one, then using an electric toothbrush (which usually already has a smaller head than other brushes) can do some of the work for you.

Don’t forget, no matter what kind of toothbrush you have, you still have to brush for at least two minutes in the morning and at night! You’ll be able to fully eliminate the bacteria from the day and go to bed with a fresh, clean mouth.
